Borrowing Movies or Albums Saves Money

The average price of movie tickets have gone up an absurd amount in the past decade.

I remember in 2002 while going to the movies a ticket was around $6.75 per person and this was in San Francisco might I add. The current price of a movie ticket anywhere I have been looking lately is around $9.75. This leads me to believe that going to the movies has become a very costly expenditure. Imagine if you were to take the whole family to the movies, that could end up costing $40 just for 4 tickets not to mention the food prices there are just beyond imagining.

If you would choose to wait a few months on the other hand you could totally rent the movie from a place like Netflix and keep it for as long as you like for a membership price of $20 a month. The price of going to the box office once with your entire family could easily cover the cost of membership for 3 entire months of Netflix.

It gets even better, whose to say you couldn’t invite your best friends over during the movie night? By inviting them over then that would mean that you’re spreading the cost of that membership across even more viewing eyes. A great return on investment indeed. And if by chance you’re a great cook or your buddies are than they could possibly bring something better than popcorn and hot dogs over for dinner.

With movies coming to DVD so quickly these days it almost makes no sense to go to a theatre unless say you’re on a date with someone new who would not appreciate being asked over to your place so soon.
