Keeping Track of Gas Use Used to be Difficult

by Tran, Harry ~ May 17th, 2009. Filed under: Car Maintainance.

Keeping track of my gas consumption use to be a real pain but it isn’t that way anymore now that I have the GasDandy gas tracker installed on my computer. I use to take my notes at the gas station and go home to manually calculate my mileage in order to figure out whether or not I’m getting the most from my miles while driving my car. Now it is easier than ever when I plug my data into GasDandy and the results just populate themselves.

Yesterday I went to the gas station and got my gas as usual, at the end of getting my gas I was able to print a receipt and with the pen that I keep handy in my car I went ahead and jotted down my odometer reading. When I got home I inputed this information into GasDandy as follows:

As you can see I purchased 9.62 Gallons of gas.
My mileage was 35.55 miles per gallon an improvement from my previous miles per gallon of 33.66.
The cost of my gas went up this time because I wasn’t able to utilize my gas discounts during this fill up and my cost per mile was $0.07

An interesting note to keep in mind is that after this fill up my oil change reminder lit up and this gives me a reminder to plan ahead and change my oil because the 3,000 mark has arrived. If you haven’t tried GasDandy out yet, than get a free trial copy here, its free to use with no commitment needed.
