GasDandy in Action

by Tran, Harry ~ April 8th, 2009. Filed under: Car Maintainance.

So I got myself a refill of gas yesterday and went ahead and plugged my numbers into the handy dandy GasDandy program to track my gas usage.

I was at the gas station and well they didn’t have any receipts left from the pump machine so I decided to take out the good ol camera phone and snap a picture of the pump so that I can get the gallons and the price. Than I went in the car and snapped a picture of my current mileage. This way I have all the relevant information to plug into GasDandy, snapping pictures on my phone also helped save some paper.

Anyway, here it is:

Yes that is my fill up from the tank yesterday.

Just grabbed the camera and snapped a picture of my odometer before I drove off.

Putting information into GasDandy is as easy as inputting numbers.

Quick Facts:
Gallons purchased – 9.04
Price – $20.79
Odometer – 123862

GasDandy did its thing after I hit “OK!” and looks like since my last fill up I was able to travel 308 miles, which matches my trip odometer, and got a benefit of 34 miles per gallon. I would say these are great numbers as I am to expect my car to receive miles per gallon in the mid thirties. This is great, and as you can see on the oil and tire meter they show a little bit of gray meaning they’re edging closer to needing replacements.

If you would like your own copy of GasDandy than head over to here and you can download a trial software which will allow you to test GasDandy for yourself to see if it will work for you. At $17.95 it is definitely a nice tracking device to have.
