This Halloween may look skimpy
by Tran, Harry ~ October 30th, 2008. Filed under: My Writings, Rants n Raves. It has been said that our future generations will bear the burden of todays decisions, decisions such as over borrowing and not saving enough have contributed to the national debt that one day must be paid.
But that one day may come sooner than most think, tomorrow after all is Halloween, a great day for children to go door to door to gather nice chocolaty treats. I wouldn’t get the kid’s hopes up too high this year though, as most families are so underwater in debt they may not be able to afford the chocolaty treats this year, and with so many homes going into foreclosure each month, most homes in your neighborhood may have a for sale sign or a foreclosure sign on the lawn.

My suggestion for anyone who does plan on bringing their kids out for some trick or treating to take them to the local mall, as most stores may still hold some sort of treat giving, but don’t hold your breath that they’ll do it again next year if conditions in our economy don’t shape up and improve.
So for those reading and plan to go trick or treating, don’t be disappointed if your take this year looks something similar to this:

May this be a reminder to us that we must take care to make sure the needs of the future generation are also met.
